2.Fresh into the new year tell fans whats coming up for 1st quarter of year?

Check out the Prezzley Beats On that new Cleeze Purp "The Color Purp. Vol. 2" Hosted By DJ New Era...That will be on Livemixtapes.com January 13th and Be On the look out for My Compilation Project "#EVILLAUGHBIOTCH Hosted by DJ New Era scheduled for the second week of February. Everything on that project will be produced by myself.

3.I see you been promoting a new single as of late tell readers about that?

Yeah Homie "Dusty Feets", featuring the big dawg Chrispy from Throwed Ent., is my new Single following up "Stunt On Dem Hoes". The song can't be any realer than the title. Boosie said it best "Dusty feets please don't bother me." I produced that track also.

4.How was it making the song ?

Making the song was a breeze! It was inspired by an encounter I had with a "Dusty Feet" who swore I was too good to talk to her when I politely turned her down. Shit was fun tho! You can't help but have fun in the studio with me.

5.So do you rap & produce which do you prefer most?

I Prefer producing because every beat that I make has emotions in it or a story behind it. I rap because I feel what I say needs to be heard and the world can relate plus its fun as hell.

6.How long have you been pursuing music on a serious level you would say?

I've been rapping since I was 9 but I have been seriously making beats since I was 12. I sold my first beat at 13.

7.When did you know hip hop was something you wanted to do to pay your bills?

Good Question! I never thought nothing of it until I was about 12 and I had so many people to tell me that I should take it serious since it comes so easy to me. It really got serious when my Great Grandma told me that me and my talent was a blessing to this world before she died back in '05.

8.We see you do tons of work with Don Prez another Alabama talent speak on the relationship?

Well Don Prez is my cousin. We been kickin it like 4th and 10 since I don't know when Mane...But that's my kinfolk and we been doing this since niggas was sellin Holographic Pokemon cards!

9.So what equipment do you use in making your beats?

My Equipment is Simple: FL Studio, Inspiration, and a Creative Mind. I don't use keyboards or mpc's or anything. I just use what I got to get to push to where I wanna be.

10.So is their a mixtape on the way for you?

Yea, Compilation Project titled "#EVILLAUGHBIOTCH" is scheduled to drop the second week of February. I'm working on a solo project as a Rapper but the title is Unnamed for now...Might get my followers to help me come up with a name lol.

11.What advice would you give a producer/beat-maker starting today?

My advice would be to stay down in order to come up & use what you got to get what want. Pray for patience and keep working hard even when you don't want to. Patience is what a lot of people slack on, but good things always come to those that wait.

The process of recording comes natural to me because everything I rap about I've experienced & lived. Now were in the process of promoting the mixtape.

Before I started rappin I was known,so the things that I rap about the fans know it is real.

7.How have you grown as a artist since your 1st project you think?

I' ve grown extremely! My voice has matured and the material that I'm recording is better.I have experienced more and lived more since then.

8.Would you still rap if their wasn't a such thing as money?

Yep, I love making fresh music!!!

Locally anybody that's real and makin nice music.

Not to give up on what u believe!

Well Ive Been Djing 4 in half years Now it will be 5 years In Oct.

3.Would you say djing is a passion for you or a hustle?

Djing is Both a Passin and a Hustle. In order to have a passion for something you have to have the desire to hustle behind it. When You hustle you are understanding the craft and determination behind it.

4.When did you you know that djing is what you wanted to do on a serious level?

When I Bought my 1st Mixer when i was in college i missed 2 days of class and these classes were courses I needed to graduate. I Stayed up day and nite learning which buttons did what. I even did my research on which Software best fitted me as far as learning how to mix.

5.So whats your main focus club dates or what?

My main Focus is allllll of it: meaning Clubs, Greek Functions, College Parties, Touring with Artist, as Well As Mixtapes. In my eyes that makes a complete Deejay a Deejay that can do it all and win in all aspects.

6.With that being said how do you go about choosing an artist II do a mixtapes with?

I choose and artist based on The quality of there music. You got some artist, who get there music mix and mastered and you got some artist that just through some crap together just to say they have a mixtape out. My Motto is "Quality over Quantity"

7.Which is your best mixtape to date?

My Best Mixtape To Date is my mixtape With Yung Joc - Triple AAAA The Mixtape I am Proud of that mixtape because I am the only dj in alabama to have an official Mixtape with him. That Mixtape was top mixtape of the week on Datpiffmixtapes.com. Hard Work Does Pay...

8.Whats coming up for you next in 2012?

Well Right Now Im working With my Artist Mike Will?, which we just released Mike Will - The Best Of Mixtape. That mixtape Can Be found on
LiveMixtapes.com (Indy Section). Im working on getting him more shows in other areas and working on that record deal. I have something
big in the works I can't to much Speak on but just know if God allow it this year is the year for Bama.

9.What clubs are you currently rocking on a weekly basis?

I am Currently at The Ph Lounge every Friday Nite Thats My Main club on a Weekly Basis. I will Be at Club Legends On Sat and Sundays (Coming Real Soon).We Gotta Get that Paper Work Right First but You can also Catch me at the M Lounge and E's Lounge on some Sat and Sundays.

track information on it. I dont do hard drives neither do I do wav Formats.

1.How is it going? Everything is Good,living the HD LIFE!!

2.Tell fans how long you been rapping?

I have been apart of music my whole life! I started rapping in 1996 with a childhood friend and we formed a Female Group. The lost of my aunt put me in a different state of mind. I decided it was time for me to go solo and develop my own brand. I've been a solo artist for 2 years now.

3.When did you began to see it was a lane 2 really make this a career for yourself?

After my aunt passing honestly. I knew I wonted to be in the music Industry all my life, but it didn't become clear til she passed and I felt I had nothing left.

4.What do you feel you have to prove to the city & world?

That women can compete with men and make good music too. It's just doesn't have to be about money,sex,guns,gangs and lies. Lol

5.How has latest project been doing in the streets?

Wonderful, honestly being Independent can have its ups and downs, so I was nervous about it but after seeing the numbers from downloads, all I have to do is keep pushing! They love me and it's very heavy in the U.K now. S/O to DJ Carlo in Italy!

6.How are listeners responding to the project?

They wont more, a lot of people email, text me asking about the new project and more songs! New Project Coming Soon!

7.Who are some of the producers & artist you worked with?

Snipe G. Young, K.Clark, Soufsyde Records,Hoodzone, Contri-Boi Ent., Jay Gunz, Ms. Shae, Miss Mercy, Shawn King(Baltimore), Johnathan Pinn(VA), Fosta(South Carolina), Skrooge(Georgia), people from all over and this is just a few.

8.Whats next for you?

Three(3) full length Albums, Touring, Quality Music Videos, Promoting, Marketing and staying on Top! lol

9.What other endeavors are you currently working on & or doing outside of music?

In working with a designer from Georgia, who has started a clothing line called Favor Gear. Clothing that makes you feel prosperous. He's actually my first investor. We're just trying to branch out and create new! I don't plan to rap all my life. I wont to be able to start a management company that helps other unsigned artist and reach their goals.

1.How is everything going?

Everything good homie, just grindin hard in the studio right now finishing up this FREE mixtape "iWreck"....bout to start on the album!

2.Tell fans how long you been doing music on a serious level?

I have been writing all my life, but i been goin hard and doin music on a serious level since DEC. 2006, i'm 5 years strong in the game!

3.Tell fans name of your label & what all you do?

The name of my label is PAPER BOI ENTERTAINMENT. I'm the CEO/BOSS!!! I'm also an AWARD WINNING RECORDING ARTIST!!!
As far as what I do at the label, I just basically call the shots and have FINAL say so on ALL situations. I also do graphics and executive produce for some of the artist that record at PAPER BOI STUDIOS. I also have a few artist that I'm bout to put on/out, we just gettin started 4real! Shout out 2 my cousin/my partner/my brother DJ WHO? (@DJWHO205), he is my full time engineer & he is also the Co-CEO of Paper Boi ENT....he's been there since day ONE and has supported me in everything I do! And this is my BLOOD COUSIN (our mommas are sisters) so this goes deeper than music, thats my brother til the end!

4.How hard has it been being a white male coming from Alabama doing rap music?

If I said it wasnt hard, I'd be lying. It's already hard enough being from ALABAMA because we been the underdog since day 1....but remember, EVERY DOG HAS ITZ DAY!!! As far as being white, yeah it makes it harder because EVERYTHING U SAY ON EVERY SONG IS ANALYZED TO THE FURTHEST POINT & PEOPLE TRY EVERY WAY POSSIBLE TO DISCREDIT YOU AND SAY U "AINT REAL" & DIDNT "LIVE IT" AND ALL THAT BS....but as far as ME personally, I aint never really had that problem as far as the "REAL" factor goes. If you REALLY KNOW ME AND REALLY KNOW ABOUT MY PAST & MY PRESENT, then there are no questions! I put my life on these beats. I put the things I've seen 1st hand on these beats. I speak for them people in these streets thats gotta do WHATEVER IT TAKE TO SURVIVE! Like we say round here....BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!!

5.Whats name of up coming project you have in the works?

I'm currently putting the finishing touches on my FREE DIGITAL MIXTAPE entitled "iWreck"! It's just some flows over jacked beats and a few originals that I'm wreckin on! It's for the fans, something FREE for them to show my appreciation to them for sticking by me and still ridin with me!
I had a few legal issues that set me back in 2008/2009 that prevented me from dropping my "WELCOME 2 THE WHITE HOUSE" album! The hype surrounding my 2008 single "LAFFIN" was probably enough for me to make it in this game. I recieved ALOT of offers & calls, but at the end of the day the legal situation I was going through and the way I was being targeted by local law enforcement as well as the feds shutting down my shows and showing up at all my shows, I BELIEVE ultimately cost me a record deal at that time! BUT I AM BACK and I have a 2nd chance at this and I feel like its ALL OR NOTHIN'!!!!!!!!!! So with that being said, you are hearing it here 1st.....there is NO MORE "Welcome 2 The White House" album, the title has OFFICIALLY been changed to "ALL OR NOTHIN" and the music is on a WHOLE 'NOTHA LEVEL!!!!!!!!! Also be lookin for that "MR. 205" DVD!!!!!!!!!

6.When can the streets expect that?

The mixtape will be droppin top of the year and it will be up for 100% completely FREE DOWNLOAD online! (J-Walk website, datpiff.com, etc)
The album is looking like a spring time/spring break release! (March/April) It will be in stores, online and in the streets!

7.What motivates you to keep doing music on a daily basis?

The FANS! I have a solid hardcore fan base that supports the sh*t outta me....& I THANK them 4 that!
Also the STRUGGLE, the GRIND & MY FAMILY/MY TEAM/MY SQUAD! I look at it like this, I can have everything and have money and all that shi*t, but if my FAMILY & my TEAM aint straight and I can't put them on and share it with them, then why am I really doing this??????????????????

8.Who are some of the artist in Alabama in you'd like to work with in future?

I've worked with damn near everybody in Alabama, but if I had to pick a few I'd probably say: YelaWolf (we actually were planning a song prior to him signing w/Eminem & Shady Records), 6 Tre G (he's like the Alabama version of Young Jeezy to me, you dont just HEAR him, you actually FEEL what he talkin bout, I recognize that he is 100 and I respect/salute that) & I know this is "out there" lol but how dope would it be to do a record with da DIRTY BOYZ and have THE LAST MR. BIGG on the hook??????? lol

2.What projects are you currently working on?

I am working on a mixtape ,”The Coming Of C’hanon KurPatrick” Have been collaborating with a lot of Alabama stars ,like Mz Joi ,Shurlock ,Seven, Nick Paul, Marko B, Deno ,Vixi Da Diva and Young Don,also staring in a musical play next year ,”The Songstress” Also had the luck in working with two of the most well known directors here in Birmingham, Kenny Luk and Tig Knight.

3.I just witnessed you perform at the Sunday Night Cafe R & B & Neo Soul Showcase,What was that experience like?

It was a wonderful experience.

4.Where do you get your musical background from?

I have a musical family, my father was a singer ,brother did production ,aunt teaches music and grandmother was a classical singer.

5.What artist have you listened to the most that has influenced your style?

Whitney Huston ,Aretha Franklin , my father Patrick Gatson Sr and Patrick Gatson Jr who are no longer here with me.

6.Who are some of the artists in or outside of the city that you would you like to work with?

Anthony Hamilton,Fantasia,R.Kelly,Jill Scott and so many more.

7.What should your fans expect to get from a C’hanon Kurpatrick album/mixtape?

Wow! by me being a songwriter different genres from pop, hip pop, R&B to Gospel ,I have a little for everyone.

8.Who are some of the artists that we can expect to hear on your next project?

Mz Joi ,Seven, Yong Don, Vixi da Diva ,Marko B and Shurlock.

9.How long have you been singing?

All my life.

10.What advice would you like to give artists trying to go in the musical direction that you are in?

First of all put God Number one ,Believe in yourself and your product ,make sure you have a great street team and support system ,also make sure your paper work is right ,like copy write forms and other important papers ,it is always good to research the music world ,make sure you are computer smart ,technology is the way of the world ,so keep updated.

1.Whats good?

Err'thang's tight,just being blessed and being thankful.

2.Tell fans how long you been in the music business?

My first official, barcoded product came out in 1993 with a group called Soul Kytchen,later renamed Slave Kamp) and it's been on
since then. We started out-the-trunk and gritted it out.. no internet just strictly street grind all over the southeast.

3.What city are you exactly from?

I'm from Quad City/Flo-Town... The Quad City consists of Florence, Sheffield, Muscle Shoals & Tuscumbia.. I'm from Florence,
home of the Father of the Blues, WC Handy. It's called Flo-Town cause I said it in a rap song around 91. The Quad City is also
home to the world famous Muscle Shoals Sound and the "Swampers" mentioned in Lynard Skynards "Sweet Home Alabama".

4.Whats the biggest lesson learned being from Alabama,being on this rap hustle?

Being from Alabama, there are a lot of musical roots and a lot of songwriting "ghosts" if you know Alabama's role when it comes
to the hits made over the decades. We artists in Alabama, I feel, are doing music for a reason. An a & r once told me Alabama
rap & r&b acts make great music but wont make it in todays industry cause our business wasn't straight, so we had to get our
business mind on. We had to learn how to work together and support each other.. And lastly we had to create our own network all
over the state like they do in Texas and Cali so we could generate some revenue.

5.Tell readers more about Alabama Hustle Unit & your label in depth?

Well I started AHU in 2003 after running into a lot of talent around the Quad City. We were doing a lot of mixtapes, it was a lot of
those guys first time in the studio but they were spittin flame. A few of em have went on to do there own independent stuff,
which was really my plan from the jump: show some cats what to do so they can start their own. "Don't give em a fish, teach em
how to fish." Now known as AHU Entertainment, myself and my partner Bentley have expanded into cd duplication, t-shirt printing,
merchandising and consulting. We not only promote ourselves but ALL of Bama, thru www.alabamahustle.blogspot.com as well as
www.youtube.com/alabamahustletv We were also recently in FORBES with SMS group GSide for exclusively utilizing

6.Going into 2012,what plans do you have or what project do you have coming @ top of year?

Well I recently dropped the annual Thanksgiving release, "Rap Hu$tlin" on www.gmane.bandcamp.com with DJ Dirrty from Ballers
Eve out of New York. He also hosted my "All Nite Smoke Session" street album which was acclaimed as 1 of "50 Mixtapes You
Need" by SPIN Magazine. As for 2012, producers have been loading me up with beats with a lot of samples and that ol skool
analog sound, so I'm thinking of doing something like "The Basement Tape". I also touched back down with DJ Burn One, who did the
"Smoke Some Kill" & "Sunday on da Porch" street albums and we're gonna do another project fully produced by him.. hopefully
drop it in the spring. I'm doing features all over the place as well. Bentleys project "Books & Guns" gon be dropping with Slow Motion
Soundz soon. And Lord willin' we'll be adding more shows to the roster.

7.For people who may not know how many mixtapes have you dropped?

Since 08 I've done six: "Smoke Some Kill", "Still Smokin", "Sunday on da Porch", "Sex Drugs & Money", "All Nite Smoke Session" and "Rap Hu$tlin". And I also have a couple of older release with my group Slave Kamp and my solo with SOC/Select O Hits at www.ahuent.bandcamp.com Thru the years though I've done over a coupla hundred easy.

8.What is your best project to date you feel?

I can't really say there is a best one, because I like them all for different reasons. "Sunday on da Porch" probably got the best
response but many, many bloggers said "Sex Drugs & Money" was extremely slept on.

9.What advice would you give a artist starting out today in the rap game?

Keep God first,cause this music game is a devils playground.Be yourself and stay true to what you do,cause folk's will try to change you. Have some integrity, say what you mean and do what you say you're gonna do cause this game is shady and the same folks you see on the way up you'll see on the way down). And Make some GOOD music!!!

10.What do you feel you want your legacy to be once its all said in done being a pioneer here in the state of Alabama?

I'm just a hustler that wants everyone to succeed. On the real "K" if I walked away from music today I'm happy. I've been seen and heard all over the world. I'm mentioned in an upcoming book on great southern rappers called "Gansgsta Gumbo" by Jean Pierre LeBarthe & Charlie Braxton (whom i talk to weekly).. I've helped a few of guys, directly or indirectly, realize and live their dream of doing music. A couple of critics have called me the rap Donald Goines (which is an honor to me).. I'm blessed
man.. I get love all over.. I'm a Alabama Ambassador.

2.Damon Lacey is your name but tell fans your production company name?

My production name is Don Arti iste. it means

DON- archaic; An important personage.

ARTISTE ar•tiste - A person who is highly skilled in some occupation, A person with artistic pretensions.
My track tag is "6 Figgaz" I use that because whenever you heard the word 6 Figures you think of someone who is not the average person who doesn't have the average job and who doesn't make average money typically when someone said " six Figures" they're thinking man that person is a high achiever so I look at my self in every aspect of all those things I just put my twist on it and it became " 6 Figgaz"

3.How long have you been producing?

I have been playing around with beats since I was 17.. I started using fruity loops but I decided to quit I didn't take it serious..

4.What inspired you to become a producer?

Well my older brother Eric was my inspiration, he had his home studio when i was like 12 and that was when I had my first experience when Juvenile 400 degrees had just come out and I remember my brother had this yamaha keyboard in the studio and I was just finding the keys to some of the songs off the 400 degrees album and just playing along with it… I am a drummer also I have been playing drums for about 15 to 16 years so the music interest was already there. I seriously got into producing in 2004 my friends had a studio and I learned a lot from them on cubase. But what made it serious for me was when my brother got locked up he gave me a Triton Studio Workstation and I learned how to make my first track and from there I learned to how to build beats, I practiced and made beats for 6 to 8 hours a day for about 8 months to a year.. I taught myself how to play the piano now I am more gifted with piano. And as time went on I learned about bars and breaking beats down for verses and hooks, that is important in being a music producer.

5.Whose your favorite producer?

Awww man I have so many different producers I take inspiration from… But I have to say I have a variety of producers who have made an impact on music from the past and the present from. Rick Ruben, Quincy Jones,Dr.Dre J Dilla, Just Blaze, Kanye, Justice League, Dangerous LLC, Drumma Boy ,Kane Beatz, The Runners man I could go on but I really enjoy music and the gifted people who have made it into a lifestyle and who have crafted their careers and have taken their music to levels of imagination.. I love listening to producers who understand the importance of records and who can create something out of something small. Like Ryan Leslie and Timberland for example they take a lot of sounds that the naked ear takes for granted and they magnify them into their music. What I mean is that Im sure you know someone who saves loose change? Well Ryan Leslie will take a cup full of loose change and make it the main percussion line in a record, or Timbo will take a floor Tom and make that his kick drum or a empty water bottle… To me making sounds is what shows who takes time to make a hit..But I like any producer who takes his craft seriously….

6.Whats the difference between a beatmaker & producer in your eyes?

Ummm that is a very important and a very great question. it is a very big difference….I started off as a beat maker and I am sure a lot of my fellow producers did as well… I was taught it was about having a Macbook and Pro Tools but I now there are some talented producers who are delivering hit records but using Fruity Loops and Garage Band. And I say all of that to say once I believed that it was the hardware or the equipment that showed the difference but really it is the creative side of a the person… the producers of back in the days used what they had to make hit records and if they didn't have the fly nice equipment they used the run down stuff and made hits with it.. and we got away from it for a min like i said It was thought if you used Pro Tools you were taken serious but I tell you this almost every hit single has been made of Fruity Loops by some of todays platinum producers. If you a person who is just taking 15 minutes and having a hard 808 and a decent snare and a few sounds and you do that constantly I name that person a beatmaker someone who just makes beats…. But a producer will take time on his craft he or she understands the importance of music and will do whatever it takes to push each and every sound to its maximum potential.. Bringing out every aspect of the music that is produced..

7.Who are some of the artist you've worked with and have been working with?

I am currently working with Real, JC,Kryst Lyke, Big T & Kastro. I have worked with Artists EJ, Bam, J Nyce, Big Prophet, Dem Deacon Boys, Just Me There is some possible music coming from a couple of heavy named artists in the future from some heavy hitters one is from Maybach Music camp and the other from DTP like I said those are things being worked on as we speak nothing concrete just possiblities…

8.Who are some artist you'd like to work with?

I want to continuing working with Free Will and the others who have helped me grow who I still currently work with. One day hopefully Nikki Minaj,TI,Jeezy,2 Chainz, Birmingham J, 6 Tre G, Rich Boy, Yelawolf,Yo Gotti, Lil Wayne,Rick Ross and the whole Maybach Music camp, Meek Mill, Kanye, of course Drizzy Drake.. J Cole, Big Sean there are quite a few more but I will just stick with the short list for now..

9.How would you describe your production style?

I would say that I am a construction worker of production.. I build a lot of beats from either simple melodies or a hard drum pattern which is my foundation sometimes I take natural sounds as well I use a lot of live snares on some of my R&B records and then just working from there it can take 2 hours even on up 4 to 6 hours I am a perfectionist I care about the product I put out… If the sound isn't what I want to start all over!!!

10.So you will be on the panel at Sunday Night Cafe Nov. 6th @ The M-Lounge...Tell us how that came about?

Well I know K.Bibbs over at Freewill Records him and I have had a close relationship for some time now and Big Tony as well.. Really I didn't expect to be on the panel Big Tony brought the opportunity to me and I was right on point with him…I am really excited because this is my first time being on a panel I am really grateful for the opportunity to network and be apart of a great event.

11.Whats next for you going into 2012?

Ummmmm.... man there are so many great things happening right now I have a lot of new contacts who either represent the artist or who are the artist I would like to work with…. I am looking forward to working with some vey hot artists and putting out some great records and being apart of music history!!!! 2012 I believe is going to be my breakout year and I thing will be a life changing year so I am looking forward to new things and I just want to be in the position God wants me to be in and receiving all he has for me!!

1.How is everything?

Everything is GREAT!!!!! Just living life and taking things one day at a time.

2.So you been rapping for a while tell fans how long you been rapping?

Where should I start? I began rapping just for fun w/ my cousins when I was in middle school when we thought we were in a little group. They were the singers and I was the rapper.

3.When did you start taking music serious an wanna become a artist?

I started taking music seriously in 2007. I’ve always written poetry so it wasn’t hard for me to put the pen and pad to work.

4.Whats your favorite thing about being a artist & worst?

My favorite thing about being an artist is being able to express my feelings through what I love doing and showing off my talent. The worst things about being an artist are all the rumors, drama, hating and being underrated b/c I’m a female!!!

5.So whats the biggest lesson you've learned from very start to now?

The BIGGEST lesson that I’ve learned would have to be “DON’T LOSE FOCUS” b/c those who envy you want to see you fail.

6.I saw your mixtape online & checked it out,tell fans the name of it? My mixtape is entitled “Xposed” hosted by DJ New Era

7.How was it recording the project?

I had lots of fun doing this project, but at the same time it was stressful b/c I had to balance work and other personal time as well.

8.What features do you have on the project?

I have Kenn J, Dozier, Naimah (Joka), Cane Carter, Lil Chappy, B.G., Miss Mahogany, D Eagle, Pretty Black, One Hunid, Fat Boi & April (DTC).

9.How are fans responding to the project?

A lot of my fans have told me that it’s what they expected and they’re ready for another project.

10.Whats hardest thing about being a female emcee?

Wheeeeewwwww!!!!! Well us female artists are overlooked and underrated!!!! Like I’ve always said “Most femcees spit harder than most mcs in the game.” One day it we will take over the game.

11.What other things you got going on outside of rap?

Right now I’m just working and keeping my eyes open for bigger and better opportunities.

12.Name something no one knows about Mz.Tek?

I’m not ALWAYS a bitch!!!! I have a cool and calm side.

13.Best & Worst thing about you?

Best: I’m not selfish and I’m willing to help anybody in any way that I can. Worst: I have a quick, hot temper.

5 words: “WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER!!!”

I’m about to start working on “Xposed II” and an internet show. Also be on the look for my website.

BRIEFLY, NOW YOU KNOW THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE...LOL
NO REALLY, RIGHT OUT OF COLLEGE I GOT INTO RADIO WHICH AFFORDED ME AN OPPORTUNITY TO REALLY EXPLORE MANY MUSICAL INTERESTS AND DJING WAS ONE OF THEM. ONE THING THAT WAS MISSING TO ME WAS THE FEMALE DJ. I MADE IT MY MISSION TO ONE DAY BE ONE OF THE GREATEST. I AM FINALLY ACCOMPLISHING MY GOALS AS DJ CHOCOLATE!

4.Being a female what inspired you to become a d.j and not be a rapper?

BESIDES THE FACT THAT I CAN'T RAP -LOL- I HONESTLY SEE THAT FEMALE RAPPERS HAVE TO TRY TOO HARD TO FIT IN. I MEAN, YOU HAVE TO BE SEXIER, SLUTTIER (IF THAT'S A WORD), MORE PROFANE, OR JUST OUTRAGEOUSLY COSTUMED TO BE "ACCEPTED" IN THE RAP GAME. TO ME, I WOULD HAVE BEEN A PUPPET. I AM TOO MUCH OF AN INDIVIDUAL FOR THAT. SO, BECOMING A DJ WAS VERY NATURAL. I COULD BE MYSELF, DEVELOP MY OWN STYLE, MAKE THE AUDIENCE FEEL MY ARTISTRY. THAT IS WHAT'S MOST IMPORTANT TO ME.

5.So being in the Magic City with as many clubs as their are popping up,whats your favorite club to rock at the moment?

WOW! I CAN'T SAY. I HAVE DJED IN ALL OF THEM BUT 2 I THINK. SO I LIKE EACH OF THEM FOR DIFFERENT REASONS. PRIMARILY I LIKE THE ONES THAT I HAVE GIGGED IN BECAUSE THERE'S NO SMOKING! I'M ALLERGIC.

It's so many different things that's I do, but to sum it up...I'm a Business Woman! From Music Manager to Public Relation, to Fashion, to Radio, to Event & Promotions, I've done it! Lol

The name of my business is 90/10 Agency LLC! Which comes from a quote that I had seen in college. The quote stated, "Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react you it!" I always kept this quote with and it inspired my company's name. We offer Management Services, Event Planning, Marketing and Public Relations. We strive to handle our business with integrity, and passion. 90/10 Agency's Goal is to change the Entertainment Scene of Birmingham, Alabama and the World!

5.What are some of the events you've done & have been apart of?

Eat the Streetz Open Mic,90/10 Music Conference,Numerous Fashion Shows & Charity Events.

1.How's everything going...(Klub Monsta)?

Everything is good family, we appreciate the opportunity to sit down and talk with you guys.

2.Why don’t we start off with introducing the group to BMB & the world?

Hailing from Birmingham Alabama we are just a group of young men trying to formulate quality music over great production from a talented core of refreshing producers.

3.So where exactly did the name Klub Monsta come from?

KLUB Monsta holds the acronym for Knowledge. Learned. Under. Birmingham. Many times people see the name and are instantly turned away thinking along the lines of the typical groups that they are accustomed to hearing. Soon they dig a bit deeper and see that there is a meaning behind the name. Originally the name was Monsters Inc. when the group only had two members. As the group evolved we decided to evolve the name also.

4.How long has the group been together?

Air Talley and K. Ricks formed the original KLUB Monsta in 2005. J.Dotta and Joshua were brought in along the way and the KLUB was fully formed in late 2009 early 2010.

5.How has it been getting music to the masses with you all having such a different sound coming out of Birmingham, AL?

It has been a learning process,the Internet has been a key tool to be able to reach out to many people outside of the state. Also we have been trying to develop meaningful relationships within music and outside of the music with an array of people. Sometimes you never know what kind of doors may be opened by the development of strong relationships.

6.Whats the groups mission and do you all feel you all can be the next big group from the south because the music & sound is there in my eyes?

Our mission revolves around the quest to learn more about the music industry, to continue to work on structuring a stronger team to help within building the Klub Monsta brand, working a lot harder sharing our music to those in and out of the state, and finally making quality creative songs that stay true to who we are as people.

Thanks for feeling that way about our sound. We honestly feel that we have a chance to make this dream a reality. Nothing is guaranteed within life, so our approach is to actively work as hard as possible to make this situation happen for the whole team. Our mantra is pretty much “now or never” so the focus is to really make these dreams come to pass.

7.How do you all,go about working in the studio being in group is it easy or hard....explain the groups recording process?

For these last two projects it has been like a puzzle. We all have varying schedules so a lot of the times we are in the studio at different times formatting records. For the forthcoming project “Separate But Sequel.” We worked through email and telephone for the majority of it. Rapping raps through the phone and emailing what we recorded in the studio to each other for approvals and changes.

8.How was it shooting the video with Tig Knight?

The "Waiting" visual was a great experience. Super huge thanks to Tig
Knight for the ability to capture our thoughts and ideas and convey them visually. Tig is a very cool brother who crafts excellence from the beginning treatment to the final edits. With "Waiting" being our first video as a group, we kept things pretty simple. A very small cast was involved within the production. We just wanted to try our best to complete the idea in mind. With the help of Tig he really transformed our original plan into something way bigger and visually stunning.

9.How has the reviews been on the video?

Overall the people really have drawn to that video. Birmingham is a very beautiful city and that beauty was captured throughout that process. It really helped us gain a new base of people who before then never knew anything about a KLUB Monsta. So that video served as a bridge to bring more people to the music.

10.So is that the groups 1st official single?

Yeah "Waiting" would be the official single.

11.Whats your views on Bham & the entertainment business here?

We feel like the community here is growing and on the verge of really getting an opportunity to make an impact within the industry. There are so many talented acts here that have a product that is better than or comparable to what is going on daily within the musical landscape. Really think we have all been very patience while still vigorously pushing our product and that patience and persistence will pay off very soon. This thought goes beyond Rap artist and encompasses graphics designers, videographers, journalist, DJ’s, Producers, engineers, live bands, singers, dancers, song writers, and so on and so forth.

12. What legacy do you all want to imprint & leave when it’s all said and done?

At the end of the day we just want to create music that could possibly inspire, generate thought, and make you move your head a little. When we think on legacy within our genre groups like Red Light District or R.O.A. come to mind. Not to just simple think hometown but there were a host of songs by these particular groups that people know each word and flow cadence still today. These groups left something to strive toward so if we can leave something for others to strive toward that would be outstanding.

1.What's going on?

-Just maintaining and trying to stay focussed homie.

2.Tell the people how did you come up with the name Tig Knight?

-We'll Tig was given to me as a child by my Aunt,But Tig Knight came about from a few members of a crew I used to be apart of. They gave me the name as a joke,playing off of suge knight,but I decided ok,I'ma take it and make it a house whole name so ive been running with it since then. Its gotten around pretty good so far but I won't stop til its worldwide. haha.

3.For those who don't know you began rapping and producing which do you prefer film or being in studio?

-We'll music is my first love and I can do tht better than i can do anything at all so I'm gonna say the studio,but I put the same amount of creativity and time into my video and photography work as well. its kind of the same thing,when I write a song I try to make it as visual and vivid as possible to the listener so its like they can actually see the story that im saying. And with the video work,I try to take the viewer to the same place as the listener,if that makes any sense to yall. Im very detailed in all my work.

4.When exactly did you start doing videos and films?

-Actually about a year or a year and a half ago,atleast me seriously doing it,about a year and half I would say.

5.How many videos have you done thus far & Let the people know what your business can offer?

-I ve got over 30 videos I've done up to this point. As far as my company goes,November 14th, we specialize in music videos but I do all kinds of videorapghy work.But we mainly do music videos and soon I wanna try my hand in making short films and movies.

6.And the name of your film company is Nov14th correct how did that name come about?

-November 14th is my son's birthday,so I named it that to remind me of why I have to work so hard and who im doing all of the hard work for. We are still in the beginning stages of business and just as with any business it takes time to grow and for us to get to the status we are trying to get to but in the end I think we will be pretty successful and maybe I will be able to pass it down to him when he gets older you know. I also have the record label, New! Car Tunes, and we just trying to bring Alabama hip hop,they way we live it and see it, bring it to the rest of the world if possible.

7.Which video do you feel is your greatest work thus far?

-I wouldnt say I have a greatest because I'm still learning and trying new things every time I can,but some of my personal favs are the 6 tre G video I did called 100,Klub Monsta-Waiting, Kuntraversy-Kuntraversy Sells, and probably this newest video from Dee Macc.But I like all my videos & all the artist I've worked with have been super cool. And we had fun shooting Murc Hiest video for his song Murc Greatest. Shout out to the homie Kenny Luk too for showing and teaching me things about filming and dropping jewels on me when he didnt have to. He took time out of his schedule & what he does to do the stuff he did for me yet he did anyways.Real people do real things and I wanna shout him out for looking out for me.

8.Where do you see your video talents taking you in next couple of years?

-Like I stated earlier I'm hoping it takes me to a comfortable,successful,happy life. Working with some marjor label artists on music videos and other projects,shooting big commercials, And hoping maybe that it will lead me into making movies.Who knows tho I think its really no limit to where it could take us.

9.Whats coming up for the Tig Knight brand coming up the rest of year?

-Well we plan on shooting more videos for Alabama artists as well as artists from other regions,putting the spotlight on alot of the great talent in the city that deserves some shine. Also pumping the website www.NOV14th.com,its kind of like a World star hip hop meets facebook where any one can join for free and post all of their music,videos,photos,etc. Models,Rappers,singers,producers,designers,anybody that has a talent or a service is encouraged to join and network and advertise and
band together to put every aspect of Birmingham and Alabama's entertainment industry at the forefront and have it all showcased for the world to see it. As far as New! Car Tunes & music,we are dropping Dee Macc's mixtape real soon,we got the new video out now for his single called Fly Away produced by KK(Kelvin Nalls),and we have Maine Browns mixtape out and the Gang Green Gang mixtape featuring music from Me,Dee,Maine,Franchize,Minthol Kings,and more is available now for free Download on Datpiff.com & on www.NOV14th.com,Plus I'm working on some new music like an album and a few mixtapes.

1.How is everything (B-Flat)?

Everything's going well, G. Just staying busy.

2.Tell Bham Music Blog readers a little about you?

Well, I'm a music producer, studio engineer, and vocal arranger. A great deal of my time goes into engineering, working hands-on with artists & being a part of The Basement [thebasementonline.com].

3.So with that being said how did you get so heavy into the production side of music?

Playing music by ear was the foundation in elementary school. I would listen to records on the radio and try to pick them apart with my 1st keyboard. I wasn't even aware of how much fun i was having. About 8 years ago, i began pressing buttons on software & such and everything skyrocketed from there.

4.Can you remember the 1st beat you ever made?

The 1st legitimate, but not so legitimate beat i made was a re-make of Pastor Troy's "Vice-Versa." It was the 1st on what was a fairly complicated sequencer at the time & all of my rounds remember it to this day.

5.How does it compare to the last beat you made?

Well, 1st of all, it wasn't an original composition! & now, so many other factors are considered when making music: having fun, considering the effect on the listener, and considering the effect on the artist that may want to work with it.

6.Who are some of the producers and musicians who inspired your early production?

Chad & Pharrell [The Neptunes]. I can remember the effect that Kelis's "Get Along With You" had on me.

7.Heard some classic street records you did with Birmingham talent K.D,what's your favorite record you've both done together?

"Iye Kontac" [eye contact]. It marked a change in my production style at the time. I was studying more. & KD displayed some elite writing, constructing an R&B hook.

8.Who are some of the artist you want to work with on a local level & a national level be honest?

Local: I would love to work with more artists who are full-time artists.. artists who, when asked "What do you do for a living?" can say "I'm a musician/I'm an artist." Their passion gives way to a great creative experience. National: THAT description/list is too long to place here!

9.What motivates your production on a daily basis?

Hearing new music motivates me. I love hearing new sounds. It encourages me to find something new of my own.

10.Whats some of the biggest lessons you've learned in doing beats?

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is to make sure I'm having fun. That's the perk to having this occupation. "If you're doing what you love to do, you'll never truly work a day in your life."

11.Whats the difference in making a beat & producing a beat in your eyes?

Good question! This has been a debate for a minute now. I think that when you consider producing a beat, you do something that paints a picture for the artist and make it easy for him/her to create.

12.Whats next coming up for B-Flat?

I'm in the process of doing more entire projects for artists rather than just having a track or two on them. I really enjoy it.

3.We 1st heard you on Live From The Classic 5 two years ago how has your music grown since then?

It's grown alot, I created a nice lil internet and street buzz off my mixtape "Zilla Shit", I was featured in Spin Mag's "Best Songs of The Year...So Far" So shit kinda been fallin in place for me since then.

4.Checked out mixtape all over net how has the streets & fans reacted to the project?

I got a real good reaction from both, shit kinda amazed me. Especially all da over seas love, I never expected dat.

5.What was the process like recording it?

Basically I just had fun with it you feel me. And all theses fire ass producers we got under one roof really made it go smooth.

6.What are you currently working on?

At the moment im working on "Zilla Shit 2" We also got the O'Third "Family Ties" mixtape coming too.

7.Whats your process like when recording?

Basically what ever im going thru, or I got going on in my life at the time of recording is what imma spit in that mic. Str8 up & down.

8.Who inspired you to get in the muisc business & become a recording artist?

It was just really something I always wanted to do.Since middle school and high school, beatin on the tabel at lunch. This music shit just always been in me.

9.How would you describe the music culture in Huntsville,AL as of now thru your eyes?

Grindin..... Everybody doing they thang. Im proud of my city right about now, as far as the MUSIC go.
